  • Instead of going to the cinema why not visit a free museum or art gallery? You can find plenty of free activities run by local councils or the National Trust and have a great day out at a fraction of the cost or even for free.
  • If you want to get fit you don't have to go to the gym and pay for an expensive exercise programme. Why not try running or walking in a local park instead, or if you are really serious try cycling to work.
  • Make sure you keep your car in good running order by keeping the tyres inflated to the correct level and having it regularly serviced. The money you spend doing this will be more than recouped by the better mileage per gallon you will enjoy. Driving slowly and using gentle acceleration can decrease your fuel bill by as much as 10%.
